Santa Cruz Opera Project presents Puccini's La Bohème in an updated, unfiltered English adaptation set in present-day Santa Cruz. This beloved opera follows a group of artists as they navigate love, friendship, and the ups and downs of creative life. Known for presenting classic operas in intimate settings that bring audiences right into the story, Santa Cruz Opera Project offers a fresh, immersive approach to one of opera's most beloved works.

Following a sold-out run at Woodhouse Brewery, La Bohème returns for one special performance on September 29 at the Audrey Stanley Grove as part of the Santa Cruz Shakespeare Community Revels series. Directed by Andrea Hart and music directed by MichaelMcGushin, the production features a chamber orchestration for string quartet and piano, offering a fresh take on Puccini's sweeping score while allowing the warmth and lyricism of the music to shine through.

Set outdoors among the redwoods and eucalyptus trees of the Grove, this performance offers a new way to experience the production in a uniquely Santa Cruz setting. Whether you missed the June performances or are returning to see the show again, join us for an evening of music, storytelling, and community.

Opera with the gloves off… literally.
